Khartoum hosts, from 2-6 September, the fourth conference of African ministers concerned with IT and communications, as Sudan was elected head of the conference at the last session in Abuja, Nigeria, in August, 2010.
The forum represents the most important event on the continental level this year and is considered a historic opportunity to review Africa?s efforts in technological transformation and its capacity to promote IT and achieve technical development plans through an agenda with open and closed meetings.
The importance of the conference is its role in building the main blocks for development efforts in technology because of the ability of IT and communication to develop Africa by increasing its economy.
The conference seeks to harmonize policies in telecommunications and IT in Africa; activate a partnership between the EU and Africa on infrastructure and on the information society, space , electronic networks in Africa; integrate IT and communication in national programs; to encourage the integrations of IT policies in other sectors at the national, regional, and continental levels; encourage the African private sector to invest in IT networks and communications projects; establish a national structure to use technology in education to implement NEPAD E-School; and increase the use of e-mail as a part of the national strategy.

The conference will discuss information security, legal protection for information systems, appropriate legislation against cyber crime, and acknowledge the shift from the standard to digital system in radio and TV.

The conference starts with the African experts in September with the participation of member states and countries from ECCAS, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the AU, and telecommunications organizations.
